HOUSE BILL NO. 5181
A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled
"Michigan vehicle code,"
(MCL 257.1 to 257.923) by adding section 76e.
the people of the state of michigan enact:
Sec. 76e. "Transportation device" means a device in, upon, or by which any individual or property, or both, is or may be transported or drawn upon a highway by human power, or an electrical propulsion system with average power of 750 watts or 1 horsepower and a maximum speed on a paved level surface of not more than 25 miles per hour, and that is regulated under this act. Transportation device includes, but is not limited to, both of the following:
(a) A cycle with 1 or more wheels, including, but not limited to, a bicycle or a class 1 or 2 electric bicycle.
(b) An electric wheelchair that meets the power and speed requirements of this section.
Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days after the date it is enacted into law.
Enacting section 2. This amendatory act does not take effect unless all of the following bills of the 101st Legislature are enacted into law:
(a) Senate Bill No.____ or House Bill No.____ (request no. 03185'21).
(b) Senate Bill No.____ or House Bill No. 5182 (request no. 03186'21).
(c) Senate Bill No.____ or House Bill No.____ (request no. 03420'21).
