CONTENT

 

The bill would amend the Michigan Memorial Highway Act to designate the portion of Highway M-11 in Kent County beginning at the intersection of Highway M-11 and 3 Mile Road and continuing south to the bridge on Highway M-11 over the Grand River as the "Korean War Veterans Memorial Drive".

BACKGROUND

 

The Korean War was a conflict between the Democratic People s Republic of Korea (North Korea) and the Republic of Korea (South Korea) in which at least 2.5 million individuals died.[1] The conflict began for the United States when North Korea invaded South Korea in June of 1950, prompting the United Nations to join the conflict with the United States as its principal participant. After more than a million total combat casualties, conflict ended in July of 1953 with Korea divided into two hostile states.
