Pastor JD Howell, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Bridgeport in Saginaw, offered the following invocation:

“Heavenly Father,

As we gather in Your presence today, we humbly seek Your blessing and guidance over all who are assembled here. We are deeply grateful for the men and women who serve the people of this great state of Michigan—those whose contributions are visible and celebrated, and so many others whose faithful service remains unseen, yet is no less vital to the work ahead.

We acknowledge that the responsibilities before us are neither small nor insignificant. Grant each person here a measure of Your infinite wisdom, that their decisions may be just, their actions steadfast, and their hearts aligned with truth. May Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, rest upon this place and be evident to all who are present and all who observe from afar.

Lord, as humble servants—of You and of this state—we seek to honor You in both word and deed. Thank You for the boundless love You have shown us through the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ, and for the hope we have through His death, burial, and resurrection. Thank You for the strength to persevere, the courage to lead, and the beauty of Your glory that surrounds us.

May the work accomplished here today reflect Your goodness and be guided by Your Spirit. Align our intentions with Your will and center our hearts on You.

We ask all this in the Name of Jesus.

Amen.”
